Meet your new best friend at the bookstore!

October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month.

We’re partnering with Homeward Trails all month long to raise awareness and funds supporting animals in need. You can stop by the bookstore to meet some adoptable dogs this month, too!

A few weeks ago I said goodbye to Scout, the honorary shop dog here at Old Town Books. Scout was my friend for 14 years, from the time he was a nutty puppy snuffling tunnels through the yard chasing moles, to his elder years as a gray faced couch potato.

Our store mascot - and my best bud! - Scout.

I still haven’t quite processed that he’s really gone. He was my companion through opening this bookstore, becoming a mom. Scout was just the most steady, sweet, friend I could have asked for. I’m so grateful I had this little dog in my life.

To celebrate Scout, we’re hosting a special event next month with Homeward Trails on Saturday, October 12th from 11 am - 1 pm.

You can meet adoptable dogs and help us raise awareness and funds for this wonderful organization by buying a $5 paw print. For Scout, for your own pup, for all the good dogs - and they’re all good ones, aren’t they?
